The oldest of the three United States Library of Congress buildings, the Thomas Jefferson Building seen here was built between 1890 and 1897. The Beaux-Arts style building is known for its classic facade and elaborately decorated interior. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965. Much has been written about the building; I will only add that I think it is one of the most beautiful buildings in America.
