This is the first piece I ever created in the “Time After Time” series.
I came across the original 1905 source image while searching online for pictures of Chicago. The scene just jumped out at me; the horse-drawn carriages, the attire, the wooden boardwalk and, of course, no Chicago skyline. So I thought it would be fun to see if I could find that same location and recreate the photograph in the present day. And I found just the spot, at Fullerton Avenue beach. I took my shot and compared it to the original image. It was interesting to see them side-by-side, but I began to wonder what it would look like if I could combine the images into one, showing parts of the old and parts of the new. That’s what I did, and Time After Time was born!
