Rephotography is the process of shooting an image at two different moments in time. This is often seen when two photographs of the same subject are shown side-by-side. For example, satellite images of a location before and after a flood. Or photographs of an individual in different stages of life.
I take rephotography a step further. I merge historic, archival photographs with contemporary photographs I shoot from the same vantage point in the present day. I then bring them together to form a single image, revealing parts of the old world and parts of the new world, thus creating a conversation about time and space.
